This was a vintage 1920s house that had been re-muddled in the 1960s with a poor layout and kitschy design. The space was architecturally redesigned and renovated in just six months. The area was gutted, a bearing wall removed, a steel beam installed, and the space reconfigured into one large area. This proved to be a difficult project with out of level floors, concentrated point loads from above, the enclosure of an unheated porch, and general old house mayhem.
The kitchen was renovated with cherry cabinets, honed Carrara marble tops, a heated tile floor, a wall mounted pot filler, and LED over & under cabinet lighting. The breakfast room has a site built window seat and desk.
A barn-style sliding door was installed to the basement to resolve swing issues.
Electrical outlets were installed in the desk drawers for concealed device charging. The mudroom has a site build bench with cubbies above.
